In college I, alongside 10 other girls, started a student group called S.I.S.T.A.H.It stood for Spiritually Intellectual Sisters Together Achieving Harmony. This was started because there were many “Clicks” on campus and it was unnecessary to have such division on a large campus with not a lot of black people. This is a student group that is still going strong today and has been in existence for 6 years.
Virtue…the moral excellence of a person. There are 4 natural virtues: Justice, Courage, Wisdom and Moderation and there are 3 spiritual virtues: Faith, Hope and Unselfish Love.
The Lord spoke to me one night and let me know there was a need for this in our church. At first I wanted a totally different structure and only during the summer months. But recently the Lord told me that was not what he wanted. It was given to me to start a bible study for women of all ages discussing the women in the bible and to call it A S.I.S.T.A.H’s Virtue.I feel in my heart this is needed for our church specifically.I believe God wants to use this method to let us know that what ever it is we are going through in our relationships, he has seen it before and he has mercy and grace on our lives.I know for a fact that God does not see us in the ‘now’ state he sees us in the future and for that we have grace.
In this class we will discuss, learn and grow wiser in the 7 areas of virtue. In each lesson we will see how the women and their situations either glorify or defy their virtue.
Proverbs 31:10-12 NLT “Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is worth more than precious rubies. Her Husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She will not hinder him but help him all her life.”
Proverbs 31:25-26 NLT “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs with no fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule when she gives instruction.”
